Download for Android

A calibrated G7 ballistic solver paired with a per-rifle data system. Get it from Google Play, or install the APK directly — same app, same account.

Apex Ballistics v0.06.15 · Android 6.0+ · ~76 MB

Free to use — the solver, your reticle and unlimited logging, offline. Pro is optional, and your subscription works either way.

Built for the field — Android only

These run on the phone’s camera, Bluetooth, and sensors, so they live in the native Android app — not the web version.

Kestrel weather meter

Pair a Kestrel over Bluetooth and pull live wind, temperature, pressure, and density altitude straight into your solve — no hand-typing conditions.

Camera group measurement

Photograph your target and the app measures the group for you — extreme spread or mean radius in MOA — and saves it to the session.

Live azimuth & incline

Use the camera and the phone’s sensors to capture look angle and incline for steep uphill and downhill shots.

Automatic position

Latitude and altitude come straight from the phone, so Coriolis drift and air density are dialed in without typing a thing.

Works fully offline

Everything runs with no signal at the range. Your firearms, loads, and sessions sync back to your account the moment you’re online again.

Which one should I pick?

Either. It is the same app, built from the same code, signed into the same account — your firearms, loads and sessions follow you whichever way you install it.

Choose one and stay with it. Android will not let the two replace each other — the Play copy is signed by Google and the direct copy is signed by us, so neither will update over the other. To switch, uninstall the one you have, then install the other. Nothing is lost: your data lives in your Apex account, not in the app, and re-syncs the moment you sign back in.

Installing the APK directly

Skip this if you are installing from Google Play. Android asks you to confirm a direct install once; it takes about a minute:

  1. Tap Download APK direct above. Your browser may warn that this type of file “can harm your device” — that’s the standard message Android shows for any app installed from outside the Play Store. Tap Download anyway (or OK).
  2. Open the downloaded file — tap the download notification, or find apex-ballistics-v0.06.15.apk in your Downloads / Files app and tap it.
  3. If Android says installing from this source isn’t allowed yet, tap Settings, turn on Allow from this source, then press Back.
  4. Tap Install, then Open. Sign in with your Apex account — or just start using it free.

Beta build

Want what’s next before it ships? The current beta is v0.06.16, and its testing focus is the Load Workup Builder — a bench log for handload workups. Document brass prep, charge steps and seating depths at the loading bench, and the whole workup comes to the range inside Apex: import it into a load development session, and when you confirm the load, the bench record lands on it. It is a Pro feature, and beta surfaces stay hidden until you opt in.

  1. Install the beta — either join the beta program on Google Play and update, or download apex-ballistics-v0.06.16.apk directly and install it the same way as the direct APK above.
  2. In the app, open Account Settings → Beta features, enable beta, and check Load Workup Builder. The opt-in syncs to your account, so it turns on across your devices — the desktop and mobile web apps included.
  3. Find it in Workflow, on the pane to the right of Sessions. Feedback goes through Beta Feedback in the same settings section.

Beta means beta. The feature is still being tested and details may change before general release. The same one-or-the-other rule above applies: a directly installed beta will not install over a Play copy, or the other way round. Your data is safe either way — it lives in your Apex account.

Subscriptions

Apex subscriptions are handled through PayPal — pay by card or PayPal balance. When you subscribe, a checkout page opens in your browser; finish there and return to the app. That is the same whether you installed from Google Play or directly from us, and the same subscription covers the Android app, the web app and the mobile web app.

On iPhone or a computer?

There’s no iOS app yet, but the full platform runs in your browser — same account, same data, nothing to install. Open app.apexballistics.com and sign in.

Updating later

Installed from Google Play? Updates arrive on their own — nothing to do. Installed the APK directly? Come back to this page and download it again; installing over your current app keeps everything, since your data lives in your account, not the app file. The app also checks for new direct-install versions itself and offers to fetch them. The latest version number is on the button above.
