Free does the thing you’d go looking for: a real ballistic solver that works with no signal at the range. Pro is what happens once you’ve been shooting a while — chronograph history, confirmed DOPE, a profile corrected to your barrel rather than the book. That value only exists because you kept using it, and that’s the part we charge for.
New accounts get 31 days of Pro, no credit card. When it ends nothing is deleted and nothing locks up — you simply carry on with the free tier, and everything you logged is still there.

What we won’t do
We won’t hold your data hostage. Sync and cloud backup are free on every tier — a lost phone should never cost you your log, and charging for that would be charging for your own fear. If you stop paying, nothing is deleted. Rifles past the free limit go read-only rather than disappearing, and CSV export stays free on every tier — including expired accounts. Your data is yours whether you pay us or not.
We won’t gate working offline. Free solves with no signal, in a canyon, with the phone in airplane mode. That’s the whole point of the app and it will never sit behind a payment.
We won’t gate load data. Charge weights and load records stay fully readable no matter what your subscription says. Nobody should be unsure of a load because a payment lapsed.
Truing: make the solver match your barrel
Every solver starts from numbers that are estimates — a ballistic coefficient averaged across a lot of barrels, a muzzle velocity from a chronograph that may be a little optimistic. Inside a few hundred yards nobody notices. Past that, small input errors become misses.
Shoot at a known distance, tell Apex the elevation that actually put you on target, and it solves backwards for the muzzle velocity that would have predicted it. That number goes on the load, and every solution from then on starts from something you measured rather than something the box claimed.
We true velocity only, deliberately. Bending the ballistic coefficient to fit one distance will make that distance perfect and quietly corrupt your wind holds and your energy figures everywhere else. One knob — the one most likely to be wrong.
It also tells you when not to trust the result: below 300 yards it refuses outright, because a half-MOA measurement error there implies roughly 180 fps of velocity error — about 80 inches at 1000 yards. Truing badly is worse than not truing.
Free isn’t crippled, and the solver isn’t the product
We didn’t put the limit on distance, or accuracy, or how much you can log. The solver runs the same maths for everyone, to any range, offline, forever — and you can log every range trip and every chronograph string without a cap, because that record is worth having whether or not you ever pay us.
Nothing about your record is gated either. You can log every group you shoot on free — Pro's camera measurement just saves you the calipers and the arithmetic. The number is yours to type in whatever you pay.
The limit is on breadth: one rifle and two loads. If you shoot one rifle, free is genuinely the whole product and we’d rather say so than pretend otherwise. If you own a safe full of them — each with its own zero, its own chronograph history, its own confirmed DOPE — that’s where Pro starts earning its keep.
There is no distance limit. Free solves as far as the bullet flies. Every other free solver does that, and one that stops at some arbitrary yardage isn’t a solver — it’s a demo. We’d rather you use ours because the maths is right than because we cornered you.
